Colombia- Jairo Arcila – Microlot
Price range: $21.50 through $86.00
Hand-picked Caturra microlot by Jairo Arcila with tasting notes of blackberries, molasses, cardamom, lime, and caramel. 45-hour aerobic fermentation and slow raised-bed drying create a sweet, complex, full-bodied cup.
This exceptional specialty micro-lot comes from Jairo Arcila, a third-generation coffee grower from Quindío, Colombia. Jairo worked for over 40 years as Mill Manager at Colombia’s second-largest exporter before retiring in 2019. He purchased his first farm, Finca La Esmeralda, in 1987 and has since grown his operation to six farms, all of which support local jobs and contribute significantly to his community. Guided by his sons — Carlos and Felipe Arcila, co-founders of Cofinet (our primary coffee supplier)— Jairo has refined his approach to specialty coffee, enhancing picking, sorting, and processing while expanding into exotic varieties such as Pink Bourbon, Gesha, Java, and Papayo.
This micro-lot is crafted from Caturra, a compact, high-elevation variety celebrated for its bright, sweet, and expressive character. Only the ripest cherries are hand-picked and meticulously sorted before undergoing a 45-hour aerobic fermentation, deepening the coffee’s complexity. The cherries are then dried slowly on raised beds for 8–12 days, developing a rich, layered flavour profile.
In the cup, expect blackberries, molasses, cardamom, lime, and caramel, creating a sweet, aromatic, and full-bodied experience.
Sustainably processed at La Pradera, all water used during production is naturally filtered through vetiver grass beds, ensuring environmentally responsible practices from farm to export.
A beautifully crafted micro-lot that reflects Jairo’s lifelong dedication to quality, innovation, and family.
